An Evening with Co.Clare Memories was an event organised in collaboration with Rural Community Network to learn from the community organisation Clare Memories. The event was open to all members of the community interested in local oral history and how best to collect this.

Co. Clare Memories is a community organisation based in Co. Clare and has the strategic aim to collect as many memories of their community as possible to ensure that stories and traditions aren’t lost over time.

This event was a ‘mentoring’ style event where Co. Clare Memories shared their learnings with other community groups from the ABC Borough to help steer them in the right direction. This event was hosted in Navan Centre & Fort in Armagh.

We learnt that from this event that Oral History is an integral part of our heritage and local traditions. It is essential that we capture the stories of our older residents of a borough which has changed so much over the last 50 -100 years. We need to capture these stories and memories otherwise the threat of losing them is much greater!
